Viral marketing is a tactic of Net-Marketing, dedicated to promote Internet use on social networks (An estimated 8 contacts per person). In other words, an idea spreads through a social network.

Viral marketing or viral advertising is the language used to refer to marketing methods. It seeks to exploit social networks and other electronic means to produce exponential increases in brand reputation as Brand Awareness. It is often based on word of mouth through electronic means, using the effect of "social network" created by the modern Internet and mobile services to reach many people quickly.

Often, the goal of viral marketing campaigns is to generate media coverage through stories "unusual" for a value far higher than the advertising budget of the advertiser.

The word viral advertising refers to the thought that people will share enjoyable and interesting content. This method is often sponsored by a brand name, which seeks to generate awareness of a product or service. Viral ads often take the form of funny video clips or interactive Flash games, images and texts.

The increasing popularity of viral marketing is due to the ease of implementation of the campaign, it's relatively low cost as compared to direct mail campaigns, good targeting and a high response rate. The main benefit of this form of marketing is its capacity to get a lot of potential customers at a low cost.

The hardest job for any company is to obtain and retain a large customer base. Viral marketing is done by using the Internet and the effects of advertising by e-mail. This communication efforts-to-business customer is called B2C marketing (business-to-consumer or B2C). B2C marketing get much more impact than many other tools. Viral marketing is a technique that avoids the inconvenience of spam: encouraging users of a product-specific service to tell their friends. Such a proposal is word of mouth positive. One of the most successful perspectives encountered in securing the customer base is called Integrated Marketing Communications (Integrated Marketing Communications, IMC).

Viral marketing or word-of-mouth is to release messages that are aimed at consumers themselves which transmit to your friends or social networks, as if a virus is involved. This communication is very cheap and much more effective because it increases their trustworthiness. And in any case, viral marketing depends more than the myriad of videos that are sent over the Internet and its success mostly on luck.
